About the latest trip to Nara

Very close to the house where I was born is located “Northern Culture Museum”, which used to be the residence of Mr. Yaichi Aizu, a poet and calligrapher, in his later years. Since I found I had lived in the same streets as Mr. Aizu’s residence until seven years old, I have felt intimate with him. In modern ages he was quick to rediscover the charms of the old city, Nara. This made me decide to make a trip to Nara, remembering the predecessor.

During the equinoctical week in September 2013, my work titled "White lotus flowers" was dedicated to Daiun-ji Temple at Itoigawa City. Then it has been a quite a long time since I held the last one-man exhibition in 2011. I have adored Mr. Yaichi Aizu, a Tanka poet and calligrapher, who was also born in Niigata City. Remembering his Tanka poems about Nara, I paid several visits to Nara, which have become the main subjects for the exhibition of this time.

" Here in the Province of Yamato I see the clouds gathering in the azure sky, wondering which temple they are above. "

In the “Association of Japanese crested ibis” sponsored by Mr. Michiei Takahashi, a president of Niigata Nippo co., Ltd., I became acquainted with Mr. Yasuhiro Kobayashi, a chairman of Nikoh Sangyo Co., ltd. (headquarter at Tokyo). Mr. Kobayashi requested me to paint “White Lotus Flowers” (3x1.5m) for the donation to the Daiun-ji, the temple at his birthplace. On Sep. 23, 2013, after working for a full year, the ceremony of the donation was successfully completed.
